1) PEI Health Research Institute 2009 Members' Survey
The 2009 PEI HRI membership survey, available by clicking on highlighted area, also has been electronically sent to all members. If, for any reason, you have not received a copy, or if you have been unable to download and/or complete the survey sent to you, please contact Susan Hornby. 3) 2009 Summer Undergraduate Health Research Awards deadline Thursday, March 12, 2009.
The PEI Health Research Institute invites applications for 2009 Summer Umdergraduate Health Research Studentship Awards. The purpose of these awards is to give UPEI students an opportunity to gain exposure to research methods and applied knowledge. The goal is to attract high-calibre students to careers in health research.
For 2009, the awards available are: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Health Professional Student Research Awards.
Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Health Professional Student Research Awards (HPSRA)
Dependent on confirmation of funding from CIHR, applications are invited for two CIHR Health Professional Student Research Awards. These awards are available to students who have completed at least their first year of study in a professional program (dietetics, nursing, or veterinary medicine) before the award begins, and who rank in the top 20% of their class. The awards provide support of $4,251 for a period of 12 weeks to perform a human health related summer research project. Preference will be given to applicants whose projects are not associated with any course credits. The student must work on a clearly defined, funded research project related to human health (broadly defined). The supervisor can be in any faculty at the University of Prince Edward Island and must also be a member of the PEI Health Research Institute, or the student may be co-supervised with an external supervisor. A student may identify a supervisor or, prior to application, may contact the PEI Health Research Institute at 894-2812 or email: peihri@upei.ca to request matching with a supervisor based on research interests.
